New retail and entertainment options coming soon

With the new year, there are plenty of new retail and entertainment options in store.

OAK is under full-blown construction. Restoration Hardware Gallery will be a 3-level megastore with a rooftop restaurant. Arhaus will be next door. Much more to come with more announcements later in the year.

Across the street at Penn Square, there will be reshuffling and new additions. OKC is finally getting an Urban Outfitters. Altar'd State is moving to a much larger and more elaborate spot. Hollister is actually returning to its old upper-level location with a reimagined store. And a Cotton On will be setting up shop.

Thriving Classen Curve recently saw the opening of Freebird shoes and Rowan has filed a building permit.

J Crew Factory recently opened in Belle Isle Station. PGA Tour Store is planned for Memorial Road. On the southeast corner of Memorial and May, California furniture giant Living Spaces is nearing completion.

Although it won't open until next year, keep your eye on the massive OKANA project surrounding the First Americans Museum. There will not only be a massive indoor waterpark but a huge outdoor swimming lagoon and dozens of restaurants and shops. The OKC Zoo is partnering with the developers for a future aquarium.

Speaking of the zoo, construction continues on Expedition Africa, a $25 million overhaul of 14 acres in the heart of the complex. They also recently announced plans for a marine mammal habitat.

Right next door, the Science Museum Oklahoma has filed plans for an elaborate new planetarium.

Crossroads Mall will finally reopen this spring with dozens of new local shops and restaurants. A new football stadium will be constructed for the Oklahoma City Wranglers in the south parking area.

On the movie theater front, Icon theaters are wrapping extensive renovations at both the Windsor Hills and Edmond Kickingbird cinemas. Windsor is planning a January 7th reopening with Kickingbird coming about a month later.

Downtown, the amazing First National Center recently opened Plenty Mercantile and Lucchese; King Ranch Saddle Shop will soon open as well. Across Park Avenue, BC Clark completed a remodel.

The historic Civic Center is nearing completion of a full lobby renovation and the complete remodel of the Freede Little Theatre. 2023 should see the start of the Union Station renovation at the south end of Scissortail Park; it will feature an event center, museum and more.

As a part of MAPS 4, work will start on the new State Fair Colleseum with the old Jim Norick Arena demolished when the new facility is ready to go.

Golfers have a lot to look forward to with the completely reworked Kickingbird clubhouse and golf course reopening this spring. Work is also underway on a new Earlywine clubhouse and Hefner will get the same treatment with final designs of the new facility coming soon.

OKC has drastically improved its grocery options in recent years and a new Crest is well underway at Sooner and Covell in Edmond. Jack Be, a pick-up-only grocer, will open its first store at NW 178th & May this month, followed by others at SW 29th and Mustang Road and the old Gold's Gym at Danforth and Santa Fe in Edmond. Homeland is under construction at NW 164th and May.

Since the corporate buy-out of the local 7-Eleven locations, they have been on a massive expansion binge with approximately 10 more stores in various stages of planning and construction. Intersection work has started at NW 13th and Classen which is the first step towards a new OnCue and that company also continues its rapid expansion. Domino C-Stores will soon open at NW 50th & May (Rocker woodworking will also be going into Mayfair) and Casey's continues to renovate the dozens of Circle K's it acquired.
